Alongside the diet change, you should also strive to make certain changes to your overall lifestyle. Getting more sleep is an important one. Try and get at least eight hours sleep a night. Get rid of the tv from your bedroom. Try not look at your phone or a computer when in bed. In fact, put your phone out of reach. Light a candle or put some oils into an air diffuser, make the space right for sleep.

Another change should be a limit on alcohol. If you smoke, then try and quit. Just look at the research on smoking and MS. The two do not go well together. I often think about how I want my future to look like, and MS is not a part of it.

Exercise and well-being is also very important. I was never keen on keeping fit – I preferred to get up and have a few coffees to kick-start my day, but now I exercise regularly, only taking a rest day if my body tells me it needs a break – it’s important not to overdo it. If your body is tired then rest it. Maybe start of by simply walking, increasing your daily steps as the weeks go on. Build yourself up. But keep the goal of getting stronger in mind.
