bone broth

Fancy swapping your morning coffee for a cup of bone broth? Probably not! –  but you would be doing your body a favour. Bone broth is full of goodness galore. It’s packed with minerals and natural collagen and is very nutritious. It aids digestion and helps your overall gut health. It should be your daily go to immune booster.

If you can’t face cooking up a pot of bones then you can buy it ready made – just make sure you get a good organic brand or if beef, make sure it’s come from grass fed cattle. A good make is the Borough Broth Co and their pouches can be ordered online from various stockists.

However, making your own can be more beneficial as you can pack it with gelatinous bones, or make use of leftover chicken bones from a roast. If your butcher doesn’t supply bones then you can order them online, Coombe Farm  are a good UK stockist.

I prefer to roast my bones for twenty minutes (if not cooked already) before putting them in a casserole pot with some apple cider vinegar, a couple of bay leaves an onion and a few carrots. I then slow cook them for days! You can use a stove top method – just simmer gently for eight hours or more (stay on guard), or you can use an insta-pot for a speedier method.
